We are seeking an experienced General Manager of Operations to oversee sales and operational performance across a multi-location retail organization.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for translating the owner's vision into execution across the business. The General Manager will oversee key functional leaders while establishing accountability, improving performance, allocating resources, and ensuring stores and operational teams are aligned around company goals.
The successful candidate will be equally comfortable analyzing a P&L, walking a retail location, negotiating with a vendor, evaluating inventory, coaching a manager, and identifying opportunities to increase revenue.
This role is designed for an entrepreneurial operator who wants meaningful ownership of a business and the opportunity to eventually step into the CEO position.
Responsibilities
- Lead sales and operations across a multi-location retail organization
- Own P&L performance, sales targets, revenue forecasting, and operational KPIs
- Establish performance expectations and accountability across locations and departments
- Oversee purchasing, inventory management, inventory controls, and loss prevention
- Manage and negotiate key vendor relationships
- Evaluate resource allocation across stores, departments, and operational functions
- Lead senior functional managers across accounting/finance, retail operations, purchasing, marketing, and e-commerce
- Recruit, train, develop, and evaluate district and store management
- Drive consistent execution of company policies and operational standards
- Oversee omnichannel fulfillment and coordination between retail, warehouse, delivery, and online operations
- Ensure consistency in visual merchandising and brand standards
- Identify opportunities to improve margins, reduce operational inefficiencies, and increase sales
- Partner directly with ownership on company strategy and long-term growth initiatives
- Build scalable processes without creating unnecessary corporate bureaucracy
- Develop the leadership infrastructure needed to support continued organizational growth
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive operations, retail, or general management experience preferred
- Proven leadership experience within a multi-location retail, distribution, consumer products, home improvement, appliance, furniture, building products, or similar environment
- Strong P&L ownership and financial acumen
- Demonstrated success driving both revenue growth and operational performance
- Experience leading managers and senior-level functional leaders
- Strong background in inventory management, purchasing, supply chain, or retail operations
- Experience establishing KPIs and holding teams accountable to measurable performance goals
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, owner-led organization
- Ability to move between strategic leadership and hands-on problem solving
- Decisive, adaptable leadership style with a strong sense of urgency
- Strong communication, negotiation, and people-development skills
