Job DetailsOur client, a highly regarded law firm, is seeking an experienced Government Contracts Attorney to join its expanding federal procurement practice. This opportunity is ideal for attorneys with four or more years of experience advising government contractors on complex procurement matters.
The successful candidate will represent clients on sophisticated federal contracting issues, including bid protests, contract claims, FAR compliance, subcontracting matters, teaming agreements, joint ventures, and federal small business procurement programs. This role offers significant client interaction, challenging legal work, and collaboration with attorneys across multiple practice areas.
Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on a broad range of government contracts matters.
- Handle bid protests before the GAO, agencies, and other applicable forums.
- Counsel clients regarding FAR and DFARS compliance.
- Draft and negotiate teaming agreements, subcontract agreements, and joint venture agreements.
- Assist clients with contract claims and disputes.
- Advise on federal procurement regulations and compliance issues.
- Support mergers and acquisitions involving government contractors.
- Counsel clients regarding SBA small business programs, including 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, and WOSB programs.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, briefs, and client correspondence.
- Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas to provide comprehensive legal solutions.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in good standing (Virginia admission preferred or willingness to obtain).
- Four or more years of government contracts experience.
- Demonstrated bid protest experience.
- Strong knowledge of FAR and DFARS.
- Experience with contract claims, subcontracting, teaming agreements, or joint ventures preferred.
- Experience with federal small business programs is a plus.
- M&A experience involving government contractors is a plus.
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Collaborative mindset with exceptional client service skills.
